Downtown Memphis was hopping today with the Grizz game at the Forum and Spamalot at the Orpheum. But everyone seemed to be taking a pit stop on the far end of Beale Street to witness the rising waters of the Mississippi. Riverside Drive is completely shut down with the intersection at Beale Street about 2 feet under water. Crazy! And for any concerned friends and family members, you'll notice the bridge in the picture on the left has a clearance of almost 14 feet. My apartment complex is on the same level (if not higher) than this bridge so the river would have to rise another 12 to 14 feet to even come close to my place... and it's only expected to raise about 3 more feet (only!).
